Volunteering

Volunteering is integral to our work here at NDC. Without Volunteers, the Newmarket Day Centre would not be able to do what it does within the community.

Volunteering is at the core of being human, no one has made it through life without someone else’s help, we are very fortunate to work with a community who value kindness. From Hot Lunch and Care Package Delivery Drivers to Kitchen and Salon Assistants, each volunteer, no matter the time or frequency – make a difference!

Currently, with the Pandemic changing the way we provide our services, our only volunteering option is a:

Hot Plate Delivery Driver.

Our team of Drivers cover routes every weekday lunchtime. Meals are collected here at the Centre at Midday and delivered to Newmarket and Surrounding Villages on a planned route and pre-ordered basis. Paperwork and Bags are then returned to the Centre and deep cleaned for the next day.

We try to keep our Volunteers on a regular route rota, so being available the same day most weeks is very helpful. Having ’stand by’ contacts for those able to help is also very much appreciated.

Face Covering, Own Car and Full Driving Licence required.

When given the go ahead nationally to resume services, we hope to do so in a similar fashion to our Pre-Covid Operations.

Our Kitchen, Café and Salon will require support. Hours are flexible within our opening times.

Our volunteering options are as follows:

Salon Assistant – Helping our Hairdresser with hair washing, refreshments and cleaning.

Kitchen Assistant – Preparing Meals, Washing Equipment and Generally assisting our Kitchen Team with daily orders.

CAFÉ Counter Assistants – Running our Café alongside our Care Team, preparing drinks, taking orders and assisting in lunch service and clearing tables for afternoon  activities when required.

Hot Plate Delivery Driver – Collecting and delivering hot meals out to the local community at lunchtime daily (Own Vehicle Required).

Event Day Assistants – Assisting our Care Team with the Events, Decorating, serving, participating in the Fundraising raffles.
