Hi, my name is Veronica Fixe. I am the centre Manager The Newmarket Day Centre.

My hobbies include Reading, walking, cleaning and spending quality time with my family.

One interesting fact about me is that I am a trained Otago instructor. I arrange and run the Otago classes here at the Day Centre. (If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it) As Abraham Lincoln once said – its not the years in your life that count, it is the life in your years.

What my job means to me…….

It is not just my job I love; it is the people I care for and those I help, support, advise and signpost that gives me the greatest satisfaction, learning from others and just being there for others.

A personal message to the team……

It’s all of you that make me happy, makes me who I am and makes me strive to be the best I can be. So, to you all, I thank you for making me feel the way I do, without you I wouldn’t be me. Much love.

Hi, my name is Sue Clarke. I am the hairdresser at The Newmarket Day Centre. This means that I do all you lovely ladies and gents’ hair. I also help the rest of the team wherever I can.

My hobbies include Reading, walking and cooking. 

One interesting fact about me is that I used to teach line dancing.

What my job means to me…….

I love my job, not only doing hair but also chatting to everyone too.

Hi, my name is Sonia Orriss and I am a Support worker come General Assistance at the Centre.

Hi, my name is Lesley Malone I am the Café Assistant at The Newmarket Day Centre.

My hobbies include walking my dog, and spending time at my caravan with my family.

One interesting fact about me is I will always go out of my way to help others where I can.

What my job means to me……. I love my job. It means that I get to meet all of the lovely people who come in. I manage the volunteers and I enjoy chatting and helping them and hope they all enjoy spending time here with us all.

Hi, my name is Leigh Stephenson. I am the at The Administration and Publicity Co-ordinator at The Newmarket Day Centre. This means that I look after all our clients accounts, send out invoices, make the magazines and organise publicity events.

My hobbies include Sewing, Walking and the Theatre.

One interesting fact about me is that for 30 years I worked backstage in theatres up and down the country.

What my job means to me…….

It is the chance to combine my admin and organisational skills with opportunity to see daylight each day – not something that happens when you work in the Theatre.

Hi, my name is Laura Evans. I am the Kitchen Manager at The Newmarket Day Centre. This means that I am responsible for the day to day running of the kitchen.

My hobbies include reading my Kindle, cooking and most importantly, looking after my fiancé, his 2 teenagers and our dog.

One interesting fact about me is that after struggling with my own mental health for 20+ years, I am now trained as the mental health champion at The Day Centre.

What my job means to me…….

This being a new role in a new venture is very exciting for me. It is a new challenge and I still get to work with the team that I have grown to love as well as the clients that all hold a special place in my heart.

Hi, my name is Kirsti Dare. I am the Senior Support Co-ordinator and a member of the care team at The Newmarket Day Centre.

My hobbies include walking, reading, cleaning, running around after my children and being “mum’s taxi”.

One interesting fact about me is that I have 3 children and 2 dogs that take up most of my time outside of work.

What my job means to me…….

I love looking after other people and it makes me feel good.

Hi, my name is Kim Hart. I am the cook at The Newmarket Day Centre. This means that I work in the kitchen, preparing and cooking the meals which we provide to our customers.

My hobbies include cake decorating, crossword, puzzles and DIY.

One interesting fact about me is that I have 1 granddaughter.

What my job means to me…….

I feed lots of people and this makes me happy.

A personal message to everybody……

Life is like a marshmallow.

I am the Kitchen assistant at The Newmarket Day Centre. This means that I am responsible for the preparation of sandwiches and salads. Cleaning and washing dishes and assisting with anything else requested of me.

My hobbies include decorating, bike rides, walking and just spending time with my 5 children.

One interesting fact about me is that I am a good mum and a reliable member of the team.

What my job means to me…….

I get the chance to meet new people and I love to watch the clients enjoy their time at The Day Centre. I also enjoy the unpredictability that each day brings.

Hi, my name is Karen Partridge I am the activities and support worker at The Newmarket Day Centre. This means that I am responsible for making everyone welcome and enjoy their visit, helping each person with their interests and encouraging independence and participation with others.

My hobbies include swimming, walking my dog and crafts

Some interesting facts about me are that I enjoy chatting and organizing fun events, I love to help people and I have 2 beautiful daughters and a very special granddaughter.
